The main objective of the maintenance audit is to assess the maintenance activities at the operating facility (upstream/downstream process facility) by use of AGT's Maintenance Audit Protocol (MAP) developed jointly by AGT and the operator/owner. The MAP is laid out with a scoring system and the results are summarized with recommendations for improvements in the areas identified such as spare parts policies and logistics improvements that may reduce down times.
The overall MAP is built up with detailed assessments of six major characteristics of the maintenance. A range of details is evaluated under each of these six headings as listed below.
Asset condition, i.e. the actual conditions of the facility audited
Work processes, e.g. planning, execution and reporting
Frame conditions, e.g. handling of statutory requirements, overall company
requirements etc.
Governing i.e. Governing of systems & conditions e.g. internal company objectives and strategies for maintenance
Supporting i.e. supporting systems and conditions, e.g. training, documentation etc. and
Output i.e. the achieved results of the maintenance work.
The scores of maintenance audit is an indication of the performance of the maintenance function and functions integrated with maintenance. The focus for the scoring is all the way through different aspects of maintenance, except, for Output. Output is judged on the basis of the achievements of the total Operation and maintenance activities.
The range of the scores is 0-4.
AGT's maintenance audit protocol has been developed based on 'best practice/world class maintenance' with knowledge and experience gained through maintenance management consulting. Maintenance audit scores are presented as histograms or in a spider plot with sub-elements.
