MHA is a process hazard analysis method that exclusively addresses the major hazards of fires, explosions, toxic releases that must be addressed to comply with OSHA's PSM standard. These major hazards result from specific chemicals and they may adversely impact employees, the public and the environment. The methodology starts with the identification of the hazard scenarios by identifying initiation events followed by undesired event / threat and the consequences, possible safeguards and concludes with risk assessment for each hazard identified.
